White Fillings

White Fillings ZetlandThe team at O Dental is dedicated to helping you love your smile with our broad range of solutions. If you have tooth decay, we can place a white filling that will blend in seamlessly with your smile so that nobody knows it’s there.

Metal fillings used to be the standard in treating decay. Today, the white restorations available are biocompatible and less invasive to your teeth, giving an aesthetically pleasing appearance.

The Advantages of Composite Fillings

The traditional metal fillings that used to be the standard of care contain small amounts of mercury and stand out from the rest of your teeth. Furthermore, more of the tooth structure has to be removed when these metal fillings are placed. With a change in temperature, metal expands and contracts, which in turn will weaken the surrounding tooth.

In contrast, a tooth-coloured composite filling can be bonded to your tooth, requiring less of the structure to be taken away. Available in an array of colours, we can select which will best match the rest of your teeth.

Why do I need to get a filling?

Tooth decay won’t stop on its own. It is a bacterial infection, which means it can spread deeper into your tooth and even affect adjacent teeth. By addressing the problem early on, it can be easily corrected with a small filling.

What are the signs that I might have a cavity?

The common symptoms of cavities include

  • Holes or dark spots on your teeth
  • A rough area you can feel with your tongue
  • Sensitivity while chewing

I have an old metal filling. Can it be replaced?

Yes. We can remove your metal filling and replace it with one of our white fillings Zetland. If it’s larger, we may recommend another solution, but it will be colour-matched to your smile so that you can show off a seamless look.
